Adele’s “21″ album is going to celebrate its first year on the Billboard 200 chart in grand style. Fresh off her six Grammy Award wins on Sunday (Feb. 12) night, “21″ is on course to sell between 500,000 to 600,000 copies by week’s end on Sunday, Feb. 19.
Adele’s ’21′ Hits 20th Week at No. 1, Van Halen at No. 2
Next week will mark the set’s 52nd week on the list and it should easily rack up a 21st frame at No. 1. It could earn the biggest sales week for any album since Drake’s “Take Care” debuted with 631,000 on the chart dated Dec. 3, 2011 according to Nielsen SoundScan. Even better – it will be “21′s” biggest sales week, period. It’s highest week came over the Christmas holiday, when it shifted 399,000. …Read More

After her triumphant, record-breaking year, Adele faced surgery—and silence. With her voice back, she opens up to Jonathan Van Meter about fame, family, and what the future holds. Every singer knows the List: citrus, vinegar, mint, dairy, spicy or fried foods, fizzy drinks, caffeine, cigarettes, and alcohol. These are the vocal cords’ enemies. And when one has a five-octave contralto as dynamic, award-winning, moneymaking, and record-breaking as Adele Laurie Blue Adkins does, one figures out how to avoid these things. Some require less effort than others. Mint? Vinegar? Feh. Cigarettes? Not so easy. Over the few days that I spend around Adele, I see her sneak a fag here and there. No one is perfect. But alcohol? For a once hard-drinking South London pub girl who has admitted that she has written some of her best songs after a few belts, I would have thought this might present something of a challenge. Not so much, it turns out. Adele hasn’t had a drink since last June. She gave it up cold turkey right around her birthday (May 5) last year. “Don’t like drinking anymore,” she says in an accent that falls somewhere between Eliza Doolittle and David Beckham. “I think I got it out of my system. D’yaknowhaImean?”

Sidelined since early October to deal with vocal cord trauma, British singer Adele will return to performing shape at the Feb. 12 Grammy Awards.
Whether the artist would be cleared to sing after undergoing November surgery had remained one of the biggest questions heading into the ceremony, to be held at Staples Center in downtown Los Angeles. Yet the Recording Academy put speculation that Adele would sing on the telecast to bed Tuesday morning, announcing that the singer would perform for the first time in nearly five months on the Grammy stage.
“It’s an absolute honor to be included in such a night, and for it to be my first performance in months is very exciting and of course nerve-racking, but what a way to get back into it all,” Adele said in a statement.

Adele’s “Set Fire to the Rain” takes over atop the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart, dethroning Rihanna’s “We Found Love,” featuring Calvin Harris, after 10 weeks and making history in the process.
As Adele’s set “21″ leads the Billboard 200 album chart for a 17th week, “Fire” is the third single to top the Hot 100 while “21″ has sat atop the album tally. First single “Rolling in the Deep” began a seven-week Hot 100 reign the week of May 21, 2011, when “21″ was in its sixth week in charge of the Billboard 200.
Follow-up “Someone Like You” crowned the Hot 100 the week of Sept. 17, 2011. In the song’s fifth and final week at No. 1 (Nov. 5), “21″ returned to the Billboard 200 apex for a 13th frame.
With “21″ at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 four another four weeks as of this week, “Fire” (Adele’s third career Hot 100 topper) makes the set the first to have led the Billboard 200 concurrently with three Hot 100 No. 1s.
